Founded in 2018 by Thomas and his dedicated team, the Fairytale Distillery quickly made a name for itself — not only through its award-winning, handcrafted gins but also through the passion with which they create exceptional spirits in the untouched Highlands of Scotland.
Nestled in the picturesque village of Ardelve, where the hills of the Isle of Skye frame the crystal-clear waters of Loch Alsh, the distillery offers much more than just a high-quality drink in every bottle — it combines history, craftsmanship, and pure devotion.
The heart of the Fairytale Distillery beats in a copper still, perched in a witch’s house on a peninsula — a place where tradition and innovation merge. Surrounded by the pristine nature of Scotland, gins are crafted here that offer a unique world of flavours through their exceptional combination of classic, regional, and global botanicals.
The spring water from the surrounding mountains and valleys combined with the expertise of botanists Martin and Stephan, and Thomas’s attention to detail, ensure that every gin is both a tribute to the region and a passion for the highest quality.
The success story began with exclusive gins, handcrafted and honoured with world-class awards within just two years. Specialising in Navy Strength Gin, with its more intense and complex flavour, they set a new standard. Expanding their range with variants such as the Classic, Oriental, Floral, and Herbal Navy Strength Gins, they brought a touch of luxury to the world of spirits.
But that wasn’t all: The Fairytale Distillery also introduced reinterpreted absinthe variations, which were revived using centuries-old recipes but with a modern artisanal twist.

However, Thomas and his team didn’t rest on their laurels — they enriched the chapters of gin and absinthe with a new dimension and created a whisky that casts the Fairytale Distillery’s story in a whole new light.
The Dornie Dram is an honest blend that combines the tranquility of the Highlands and the distillery’s craftsmanship in every bottle. Unlike smoky, peaty whiskies, the Dornie Dram stands out with its velvety texture and harmonious, warming notes that evoke golden sunsets over Loch Alsh. We creating Fairytales
The teams international skills enable the Distillery to produce a variety of non-chilled filtered, highland gins that appeal to a wide range of cultures and palates.
These skills have been drawn from three generations of Botanists, the latest having grown up with a keen interest in distilling.
The team consists of Thomas (1) the Founder, CEO and Distiller; Joline (2) the Distillery Manager; Roger (3) the Consultant, whose Uncle was in command of the First Class Lounge of the Queen Elizabeth Liner; and Martin (4) and Stephan (5) the Botanists. The team has highly experienced and professional acumen.
